Paste Studios were approached by The Vampires Jazz band to work with them in creating a digital entertainment package for the release of The Vampires meet Lionel Loueke EPK album released May 2017. The West African guitarist Lionel Loueke joined the band on their 5th album. Recording in Sydney and touring nationally with a live show in June 2016 this collaboration was well recognised amongst Jazz enthusiasts. Paste Studios created a behind the scenes style album preview video. This preview video contained interviews from members giving an insight into the production and collaboration process between the musicians and the style of music performed on the album. A set of 4 multi camera videos of songs performed live in the recording studio was also produced and released separately for album hype.
“The Vampires’ music builds on the rich history of piano-less jazz quartets with a unique twist, adopting reggae, balkan, afrobeat and latin rhythms in unexpected ways. The dual saxophone and trumpet melodic lines have a strong sense of dialogue and emotional range – from exciting to soothing. The band draws on many influences, but have been compared to the likes of early Ornette Coleman, the Catholics, Bob Marley and John Zorn/Dave Douglas’ Masada.” – About the Vampires
